U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) recently apprehended a 46-year-old Mexican national, Ramiro Guevara, in Dallas. Guevara’s arrest on March 26 is linked to his involvement in a 2014 vehicular accident that resulted in the death of a 13-year-old girl. At the time of the accident, Guevara was sought for driving without a license. However, he did not face charges related to the girl’s death and did not serve any prison time.

“The arrest and pending removal of this individual serves as a stark reminder that criminal aliens who threaten the public safety of our communities will be found and face justice for their actions,” stated ICE Homeland Security Investigations Dallas Special Agent in Charge, Travis Pickard. He added that their team works tirelessly to uphold U.S. immigration laws.

Guevara was also wanted on an outstanding deportation order for being in the United States without legal admission or parole. After attempting to file a petition for relief from removal on March 10, 2016, his request was denied by an immigration judge on July 28, 2017. Following this, he was formally ordered to be removed from the country on August 23, 2017. Guevara did not appeal this decision within the allotted 30 days.

Until the completion of his removal proceedings, Guevara will remain in ICE custody. ICE encourages individuals to report any suspicious criminal activity through their Tip Line available 24 hours a day at 866-DHS-2-ICE (1-866-2423) or through their online tip form.
