U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations Buffalo, in cooperation with the Buffalo Police Department, has arrested a Kenyan national on charges related to firearm possession. The individual, identified as Aden Ibrahim, is a lawful permanent resident who was charged with being a felon in possession of ammunition.
“HSI Buffalo is proud to collaborate with our local, state, and federal partners in Western New York to enhance public safety and national security through ongoing targeted criminal enforcement efforts. We are committed to fostering strong partnerships that strengthen our community and safeguard our region,” stated HSI Buffalo Special Agent in Charge Erin Keegan.
The arrest took place on July 9 when personnel from HSI Buffalo and the Buffalo Police Department detained Ibrahim for alleged unlawful possession of ammunition by a convicted felon.
The investigation began when Buffalo Police responded to a call about an “unwelcomed guest” at a local residence. The complainant reported that an individual known as “Beano” refused to leave and was in possession of crack cocaine and a firearm. Officers observed “Beano” leaving the residence and attempting to flee on foot. He was found carrying a U.S. permanent resident card identifying him as Aden Ibrahim.
Detectives were called to the scene where they found a revolver with tape on the handle lying on the floor of a bedroom. The complainant confirmed that “Beano” occupied the room and owned all its contents.
A search warrant executed at the residence led detectives to seize a revolver, ammunition, approximately 26 grams of suspected crack cocaine base, and drug paraphernalia.
Ibrahim had previous felony convictions: one for criminal possession of a weapon in March 2022 and another for criminal possession of a controlled substance in January 2024. These convictions legally prohibit him from possessing ammunition.
Following his arrest, Ibrahim appeared before a U.S. magistrate judge who ordered his detention. He has been handed over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
