U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, in collaboration with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), U.S. Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service (DSS), and Virginia State Police (VSP), have apprehended a Honduran national in the United States illegally on charges related to incest and aggravated sexual crimes in Virginia. This individual, Marvin Mateo-Alberto, aged 25, was taken into custody in Falls Church, Virginia, on April 10.
“Marvin Mateo-Alberto stands accused of some very appalling and disturbing crimes and represents a threat to the children of our Virginia communities,” stated ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Washington, D.C. Field Office Director Russell Hott. “We cannot in good conscience allow Mr. Mateo to continue to potentially threaten other children in our neighborhoods. ICE Washington, D.C. will continue to prioritize public safety by arresting and removing criminal alien threats from our streets.”
Mateo-Alberto’s illegal entry into the United States was first recorded on October 17, 2005, near Eagle Pass, Texas, after which he was issued a notice to appear before a Justice Department immigration judge by the U.S. Border Patrol. Subsequently, on April 5, 2006, a DOJ immigration judge ordered his removal to Honduras.
Fairfax County Police previously arrested Mateo-Alberto on January 1 and charged him with incest and aggravated sexual battery involving a minor aged 13 to 17. ICE lodged an immigration detainer against him at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. However, he was released on January 16 after the detention center did not honor the detainer.
Law enforcement, represented by ICE Washington, D.C., ATF Washington, D.C., DSS Washington, D.C., and VSP, arrested Mateo-Alberto in Herndon on April 10, and he remains in ICE custody.
