A group of over 600 migrants gathered at the border near El Paso on March 21. The event ended with over a hundred adult men from the group rushing the border and knocking aside guardsmen as they attempted to enter the country.

A large group of immigrants, some 600, were amassing at the border as part of a “Spring Rush” attempt to cross the border. After members of the Texas National Guard started separating women and children from the adult men to try and create smaller groups to address, the men starting pulling down a concertina wire barrier and running past guards trying to hold them back, reported the New York Post.

Videos show the surge, with five guardsmen attempting to hold the crowd back after they tore down the wire.

While some of the illegal immigrants were pushed back into Mexico, others were taken to a processing facility, and at least one was arrested for committing assault and other crimes on U.S. land.

An article from The Federalist details a lack of cooperation from Mexico with the border crisis, including Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s ties to cartel figures. “The key thing to understand about the crisis is that it’s being managed by Mexican cartels, along with their partners inside the Mexican government, as a for-profit enterprise,” Federalist writer John Daniel Davidson reported.
